MADHOUSE
OVERVIEW
MADHOUSE is a retro horror action RPG from Paul Hubans, director of Night Manor in UFO 50 -- the critically acclaimed 50-game indie anthology by Mossmouth that earned widespread praise from IGN, PC Gamer, and Kotaku.
A horror-punk, blood-soaked love letter to late 90s horror culture, MADHOUSE follows Butch -- an undead everyman on a quest to find his wife's killer -- through the dreary open world of Grayville, a town crawling with monsters, maniacs, and twisted characters pulled from the darkest corners of horror fiction.
The game features a growing ensemble cast of playable characters including Zero, a masked soldier with no memory of his past, and Ragman, a mutated creature seeking retribution against those responsible for his transformation -- each with distinct playstyles, stories, and motivations.
Thematically and mechanically distinct dungeons, unique enemy mechanics, a chiptune soundtrack by veteran composer PaleDeth, and a handcrafted pixel art aesthetic that stands apart from the clean, polished look dominating the indie space right now.
INCOMING UPDATE
The Act 1 Story Update drops May 25th, effectively doubling the current story content with new dungeons, bosses, animated cutscenes, and a climactic conclusion that sets the stage for Act 2. This is the biggest content drop in MADHOUSE's history.
MULTIPLAYER CHAOS
Additionally, MADHOUSE features a chaotic four-player local versus mode that's completely separate from the campaign and playable online via Remote Play Together. Featuring a growing roster that's currently comprised of 17 playable characters each with their own distinct mechanics and abilities, players can go head-to-head in a free-for-all or team-based matches that are very tournament-friendly.
Two very different kinds of content for two very different videos.
